Resource — Buying & Selling

Before you signanything.

Buying or selling a collector car involves more than a handshake. Here's what to check on either side of the deal.

Buying
  1. Title and history

Confirm a clean title and, where possible, a documented ownership and service history before you commit.

  2. Numbers and originality

For matching-numbers cars, verify engine and transmission codes against factory records or a trusted registry.

  3. A pre-purchase inspection

A marque specialist who knows what to look for on this specific car is worth the cost, especially on a higher-value purchase.

  4. Insurability

Before you buy, ask us what it would take to insure the car — storage, use, and documentation all factor in.

Selling
  1. Gather your documentation

Receipts, prior appraisals, restoration photos and service records all support a stronger asking price.

  2. Get a current appraisal

If it's been a few years since your last one, a fresh appraisal reflects where the market actually stands today.

  3. Decide how to sell

Private sale, auction, or a specialist dealer each have different tradeoffs on price, speed and effort.

  4. Update or cancel coverage

Once the sale closes, tell us — we'll adjust or end coverage on your timeline, not after the fact.
